FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Where are The Weavers Door products made?
Our products are made in partnership with skilled artisans in Tunisia. Each piece reflects traditional techniques passed down through generations and celebrates the region’s cultural heritage.
Are your products handmade?
Olivewood: Our olive wood is made by artisans using tools to manipulate the wood.
Foutas: are mechanically loomed and hand-finished by women.
Subtle variations in weave, texture, or wood grain are a natural part of the process and make every piece one of a kind.
What materials do you use?
We focus on natural, sustainable materials. Our textiles are made from cotton and some recycled cotton. Our kitchenware is crafted from olive wood trees that are no longer fruiting, chosen for its durability, beauty, and long-standing use in Mediterranean cultures.
Are your products sustainable?
Yes. Our olive wood pieces are made from non-fruiting trees, and our textiles are produced in small batches, 50% of which is recycled cotton with an emphasis on longevity, responsible sourcing, and minimal waste.
How do I care for fouta towels and olive wood?
Fouta towels can be machine washed in cold water and tumble dried on low or air dried. They become softer and more absorbent with each wash.
Olive wood can be hand washed with mild soap, and air dried or hand dried with a towel. After substantial use you may notice the wood is looking lighter, condition with food grade mineral oil and a soft towel, by rubbing oil all over item with towel. Let sit for a few hours or overnight to completely soak in, gently wash or rinse before use.
Are The Weavers Door products good for gifting?
Absolutely. Our pieces are thoughtfully made, visually distinctive, and meaningful, making them ideal for weddings, housewarmings, holidays, and special occasions. Each gift comes with a care card that explains about what the purchase is and care instructions.
